The aftermath

Turns out the first day after the fast is worse than any day during. Who would have guessed? My energy level were at an all time low and I just couldn't seem to drink enough orange juice to get sufficient calories. All day was O.J. only. I barely had enough energy to go to small group at Gord and Bec's house. I pretty much sat there with my head in my hands trying to conserve my strength.

Today was day two post fast and it was better but still low in the energy levels. All day I looked forward to supper where I could eat solids for the first time in nearly 10 days. At lunch I put the ingredients together for the veggie soup I was going to eat after work. Dar bought me some organic vegetable broth and rye wafers to go with it (she's awesome!). I had one bowl of soup and 4 wafers at 6pm and man was it good! Dar tasted it and wondered why I liked it so much. To her it was very bland. I think my sense of taste has been heightened along with my sense of smell. My stomach handled it like a trooper! Then at around 7:30pm I had another bowl and 4 more crackers. At that point my stomach said "enough and too much". There was some discomfort and a feeling of being too full. No serious side effects yet but the full feeling is sticking around. Sure is nice to chew on something again.

Hey pat, long time no hear. What was the purpose of this cleanse thing? Was it to flush your body of all the crap and chemicals and such? that is sort of what i was getting from reading your entries. Anyways, sounds like you did really well. Hope you got what you were after. Still cycling and playing volleyball on top of that! that's crazy. I did a fast for a bit leading up to halloween season once, it was tough, so i have learned a lot of respect for those that take something like this on.

I've been blogging for a couple of months now and I am really enjoying it. I haven't written one in a while, but I found that it is quite helpful to me. I use it like an online journal. Everybody gets to see my innermost thoughts, but i don't really care. I've never been shy. Anyway man, cudos. later

Drifter, good to hear from you! If you want details of the cleanse check out www.master-cleanse.com You're pretty much right in saying it was to flush out toxins etc. and improve health overall. Dar and I have been improving our diet gradually for a while and I figured this cleanse would complement our lifestyle changes. Hoping to hear that you've bought a bike still so when we eventually get out there you can take me riding. Take care and say hi to Ker.
